BioVis - a core facility for Microscopy, Flow Cytometry and Electron Microscopy
-
The BioVis platform of Uppsala University provides you with a unique combination of technology and know-how for visualization of biological samples at the tissue, cell and subcellular level. We specialize in Light Microscopy and, Electron-Microscopy and Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting.
-
The Light Microscopy Node of BioVis offers Confocal-, 2Photon-, and Superresolution Microscopy as well as conventional Widefield Microscopy for Fluorescence and Brightfield, including a slide scanner.
-
The Flow Cytometry Node of BioVis offers analytical Flow Cytometers and Cell Sorters.
-
The Electron Microscopy Node of BioVis offers conventional sample preparation, negative staining, immunogold labeling and imaging. We have experience in a wide range of different types of samples and protocols. In case you are interested in single particle analysis we like to refer you to our Partners of the Cryo EM Facility. BioVis is also planning to offer 3D imaging by FIB-SEM in the future.
-
The IGP department founded and hosts BioVis since 2007. Allmost all of our instruments are cross financed by the Department of IGP and individual groups of IGP. We greatfully would like to point that all customers of Uppsala University pay the same hourly fee for Biovis´services.
-
The Medical & Pharmaceutical faculty at Uppsala University and finances BioVis, thus customer fees for UU can be kept low. SciLifeLab Uppsala and Beijer Foundations supported Flow instruments and 2Photon Microscope, respectively.
-
BioVis is situated in Rudbeck Laboratory, Science Park, Uppsala, but we also have a site at the BMC for Flow Cytometry and Confocal Microscopy.
-
The platform is available for all universities, governmental agencies & private companies. With proper training, provided by us, you can get almost complete access to our equipment. Detailed information about BioVis, its instruments, services and price list can be found at our homepage.
-
BioVis welcomes customers of University of Uppsala, other Swedish academic institutions and industry.
